So I tried to emulate this with Polar in Reason, with Audiodamages pitch shifter and Soundtoys microshifterand other devices but I never really recognized the results or liked them. Guthrie also produced couple of Harold Budd's records and I can hear this detuned effect on the guitar there as well, and also on other records he produced.

I've been trying to get that to work as a sound ever since.

The Drop has an LPF with a little resonance and some preamp drive (I really like the drive on this plugin) Pro C is set to ~ dr pepper and the j37 has a little bit of saturation but not much.Īs for why I associate this with Cocteaus and Harold Budd comes from an interview I read with Robin Guthrie where he said that this stereo detuning was his mainstay.

The H910 dual is set to the "10 cent" micro shift patch with a little tweaking, which pans one side up 10 cents and the other down.

The PSP is set to <40% wet on a 5 sec decay. I love Una Corda, this is a basic patch without anything in the post section. Kontakt una corda -> PSP reverb -> h910 dual -> The Drop -> Pro C -> j37 tape Sounds more alive, less static than Crystalizer.Ĭould you post a couple files? honestly interested in hearing that chain.Ī.Sure! Here's an improvised bit with the following: Discord was a bloody awful, convoluted geek-out fest UI, so I deleted it. I found I could just about dial up familiar effects on Crystallizer, but I can dial them up a whole lot faster on this one. A different flavour to what I was using before - Soundtoys Crystallizer (and before that) Audio Damage Discord. Bunch of silly muppets.īought this plug as a $99 gamble which paid off. Everyone can do their own thing.Stop making sense.Ĭan't believe how this thread was hijacked to talk about an entirely different plugin. pre's, compressors.īut that is the beauty of this racket. I'd rather spend that dough on front end tracking stuff. So, if ever there was a time to dial up a plugin to get a taste, now is that time as opposed to going through your bread collecting a bunch of digital fx units from the 80s. I agree with Tui on the state of fx right now.

Read the techs explain while it's possible on a given eventide emu to recreate every setting that sitting down and transcribing those patches is so time consuming that even eventide won't do it. Wanna see? Go login to the excellent eventide forums.

Instant recall is almost reason enough to go with a SW emu that's almost 95% there. Why? Because it's the internet and people love to get into arguments on the internet. Isn't this thread about the eventide plugin? Why are we still talking about lex 224 emus. My god, even the methods used for these a/b tests aren't safe from controversy. Rather they just seem to fuel droning threads where nobody moves from their original position. Hardly anyone is using these hw/SW a/b's to make educated choices.
